Give the RV interior a thorough cleaning at least two times per year to remove grime build up and stubborn stains. During the task, run the generator or plug into shore power for ample electrical power to provide overhead lighting and to operate cleaning equipment. Begin cleaning at one end of the RV and work forward. Carefully examine all areas for signs of mildew or pests. Avoid mixing chemicals that could be toxic. Open windows and vents for ventilation, wear rubber gloves and always pre-test cleaning agents in an inconspicuous area prior to full application.
Vinyl - Mix a solution of mild detergent and warm water. Gently wipe the surface to remove grime. Rinse with clear water and dry with a clean cloth.
Wood - Remove dust and fingerprints from wood surfaces with a cloth lightly coated in furniture polish. To get between woodcarving, use a soft bristled paintbrush sprayed with furniture polish.
Wallpaper - Eliminate dust build up by wiping the surface with a soft cloth lightly dampened in warm water. Dry the area using a clean cloth. To eliminate grease and food stains, lightly rub the wallpaper surface with a cornstarch paste and rinse using clear water.
Windows - Clean windows away from direct sunlight to prevent streaks. Before cleaning glass, wipe out windowsills and cross frames with a soft cloth. Spray a solution of warm water and 2-3 tablespoons of vinegar to glass surface and wipe off using lint free paper towels or newspaper.
Fabric upholstery - Remove stubborn stains with a solution of ½ teaspoon mild detergent and one pint warm water. Blot stain or gently scrub using a soft brush. Allow the area to dry and then vacuum away soap residue. Rinse with clear water and allow the spot to dry.
Bathroom - Remove soap scum using a wet sponge and baking soda paste. Rinse thoroughly and wipe dry with a soft cloth. Use ammonia based cleaner to clean sink and toilet surfaces. Wipe away water spots from faucet handles with a dry soft cloth.
Floors - Sweep and vacuum at least two times per week. Hard floor surfaces can be cleaned with mild soap and clear water rinse. Carpeted areas should be deep cleaned as needed, but no less than one time per year. Spot clean water soluble carpet stains by blotting the area with a soft cloth dipped in a mild soap and water solution. Rinse with clear water and cover the spot with white paper towels during dry time. Once the area is dry, remove the paper towel and brush nap back in place.
Don't forget to clean the entry door, light fixtures, switch plates and air conditioning filters.
