First and foremost, take your time positioning the motor home in the assigned site and connecting shore power hook ups to avoid over-exerting yourself. Adjust daily tasks to hours when outdoor temperatures are cooler. Early morning is likely the best time to perform maintenance checks to the engine oil, cord connections, roof a/c filters and outdoor vents.
Inspect the ground surface before extending the levelers. If the surface is hot asphalt you will need to place a block of wood under the pads to prevent jacks from going through the asphalt.
Make generous use of the awnings. However, remember that even in warm weather climates the wind can come up without notice, so retract the awnings when you leave the motor home for any amount of time. Routinely clean the roof a/c filters and vents to maintain maximum airflow.
To help reduce sun glare, you can close the privacy drape. If you prefer to retain a view out the front windshield, consider installing removable window shades. Interior shades attached using Velcro are a popular choice because they go up in minutes without having to go outside. Interior shades are also easier to keep clean as they are protected from dirt and grime that outdoor shades are normally exposed to.
Tire covers are a necessity in hot weather climates when the motor home is parked on a solid surface. White tire covers will help deflect heat better than tire covers of a darker color, which can act as a heat sink. Tire covers have a tendency to blow off during windy conditions and should be secured using straps. Remember to also cover the tow vehicle tires, especially if you are leaving them parked for long periods of time.
Protect the roof surface by adding a small amount of wax to the soap solution each time you wash. This will help to protect the surface against cracking in the heat. To help reduce sun glare from entering the motor home throughout the day, consider adding a cover to the skylight in the shower area.
